UJEB Programs Update Term 4 2020

Dear UJEB Families,

The health and safety of our students, staff and families remains UJEB’s number one priority. The situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop and with some complexity, so we wanted to provide you with this latest update.

Students Returning to School

As you would be aware, the Premier of Victoria recently announced a roadmap to returning to normal. Schools will return in two stages; prep – year 2 (and years 11 and 12) on 12 October (Week 2 of Term 4) and the remainder on 26 October. These dates are subject to review.

UJEB Returning to School

Unfortunately, this does not mean that UJEB programs can resume at schools on those dates. In a recent directive, the Department of Education and Training (DET) made it clear that Community Language Schools (CLSs), of which UJEB is one, will remain closed for face-to-face provision (with the exception of services for VCE students). We are awaiting further advice from DET.

UJEB has been in regular contact with the principals of the schools at which UJEB programs are delivered. The principals will all be following the DET directive.

In the meantime, we will be continuing our Zoom lessons from the beginning of term 4 (5 October) until, at least, 26 October. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide you with further updates.

UJEB is committed to ensuring that no child misses out on the opportunity to engage in Jewish learning. If your financial situation has changed due to COVID-19, and your ability to pay fees has been compromised, your child need not miss out.

Emotional Wellbeing

The emotional wellbeing of our children is also an ongoing concern. You can follow these tips for talking to your child about coronavirus (COVID-19). They include how to have a safe and reassuring conversation and links to resources to help you and your family.  https://www.education.vic.gov.au/parents/Pages/talkingtoyourchildaboutcoronavirus.aspx
