BBYO (Bnei Brith Youth Organisation)
A teen-led social and leadership development program for Jewish students in years 8-12.
BBYO Giving Day 2024
On this day, our community worldwide unites around a common goal: raise the funds that BBYO needs to continue operating our local regions. #givingBBYOday is a powerful day, and it’s also very important—in a single day, we raise much of the funds needed to keep our local program affordable for more families for the year. Donations help us fund staffing, scholarship, and the Jewish experiences that BBYO teens in Australia love—and this directly ensures that all Jewish teens can access the connection, community, and support that our region offers.
Program Details
Run in over 60 countries with thousands of Jewish teens, BBYO is the leading teen-led international pluralistic movement, aimed at engaging Jewish teens in meaningful Jewish experiences.
BBYO is student-driven, where teens develop leadership skills through involvement in the BBYO Melbourne chapter or leadership board to plan and run events and opportunities for their peers and Jewish teens in the community.
BBYO plays a significant role in the UJEB Journey for Jewish teens by providing a social outlet outside of school, as well as leadership opportunities including UJEB events and camps. BBYO also connects students to a wide range of international opportunities, through the annual International Convention, International Leadership Training Conference, international committees and more!
Guided by the BBYO Melbourne Advisor, teens are taught to strengthen their Judaism, their leadership capabilities and experience BBYO’s international opportunities.
BBYO Australia is housed and powered by UJEB in collaboration with BBYO International. BBYO NSW runs in Sydney, and BBYO ACT is now being established in Canberra.
BBYO is open to all Jewish students in years 8-12.

International Convention (IC)
Considered to be the largest gathering of Jewish youth worldwide, BBYO’s annual International Convention aims to unite Jewish teens from over 60 countries in an American city for 2 weeks of travel, learning, concerts and connection with Jewish teens from all over the world.
We’ve sent 5 cohorts from BBYO Melbourne, BBYO Sydney and Canberra to the International Convention: In 2019 (Denver), 2020 (Dallas), 2022 (Washington DC), 2023 (Dallas) and 2024 (Florida). IC is attended by more than 5,000 Jewish teens, as well as educators, philanthropists and celebrities.
Students who attend IC bring back life-long friends, memories and newfound leadership skills and enthusiasm to be a part of BBYO Melbourne.
Registrations for IC to celebrate BBYO’s Centennial in Denver Colorado Feb 2025 are now closed.
