A ROSH HASHANA MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE PRINCIPAL

Dear UJEB families, supporters and friends,

This year Rosh Hashana is going to be very different. No shofar in shul, and no extended tables. But if the shofar teaches us anything, it is not to to throw up our hands in despair. The shofar is a call to action! This Rosh Hashana, while shules and schools remain closed, we need to focus on two central questions: Firstly, how can we make this Rosh Hashana meaningful for our family? And secondly, how can we maintain our children’s commitment and connection to Jewish life?

The answer to the first question simple: tradition! Our tradition prescribes beautiful meals with all the symbols to make it special. Add a fancy table setting, and spend the Rosh Hashana meals really focusing on what’s important – family! The answer to the second question is also simple: UJEB. We are continuing all of our programs online, and have plenty of options for both primary and secondary students. Continue with your UJEB program for term 4, or join some of our weekly teen activities and events. If online learning was too tricky up until now, please reconsider and try joining again for term 4. Focus on what is really important, and that is being proud and passionate Jews!

During this very different Rosh Hashana, make it even more special and meaningful for your family. Shana Tova Umetuka!

Itzik Sztokman, Executive Principal
