RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (RE) CLASSES

How often and where are Religious Education classes held?
Religious education classes are held once a week for half an hour at 35 State Primary Schools. Please ask your principal to arrange for the inclusion of your child in this program.
However if your child's school is not currently participating in this program, please contact UJEB

What do children learn in Religious Education Classes?
Students learn Jewish traditions and customs, life cycle events, biblical stories, Chagim and Shabbat.

Is there a cost for Religious Education?
Religious Education classes are free of charge, a work book is distributed annually for $15.

I would like my child/ren to learn more than what you are able to cover in the half hour Religious Education Classes, does UJEB offer anything more comprehensive?
UJEB tailors classes to the different needs of the students.

HEBREW & JEWISH LEARNING CENTRES

Where are UJEB Hebrew Centres?
In the Caulfield, Bentleigh, Malvern and Doncaster areas.

How often are Hebrew & Jewish Learning classes held?
At some centers, classes take place once a week and at others twice. Please contact the UJEB office for more information ((03) 9272 5522).

Can my children begin at any year level?
UJEB caters for students at all levels starting at any time, but we encourage students to commence as soon as possible.

DISTANCE LEARNING

How do I enroll for distance learning?
If you would like to enroll in UJEB's distance Learning program or require further information please contact us on this website or phone us on (03) 9272 5522.

DONATIONS

Are donations to UJEB tax deductible?
Yes, donations over $2 are tax deductible

How can I make a donation?
Donations can be made over the phone during business hours on (03)9272 5522, you can donate on line or download our donations fax form.

Can I sponsor a UJEB project?
Yes, we have many projects that you are able to sponsor with or without naming rights. For more information, please contact the UJEB office.

UJEB CAMP

When is UJEB camp?
UJEB camp is held in August.

What year level is camp offered to?
UJEB camp is for years 3-6.

BAR MITZVAH

When should my son start Bar Mitzvah classes?
If your son can read Hebrew he should enrol by his twelfth birthday.

What happens if my son can't read Hebrew?
If Hebrew reading tuition is required please contact our office as soon as possible.

BAT MITZVAH

When do Batmitzvah classes begin?
Batmitzvah classes begin during February

How old should my daughter be when she begins classes?
Girls should be turning 12 during the year they are taking part in the classes. If you have any questions regarding this please contact the UJEB office.

What synagogue is the ceremony held in?
Ceremonies are held at both Caulfield South Hebrew Congregation and Brighton Hebrew Congregation.

JSN

How do I get JSN to come into my school?
The best way, to find out if JSN can come to your school, is to contact the JSN Coordinator, Amanda at jsn@ujeb.org.au, or call the office on (03)9272 5522.

What happens during a JSN lunch time sessions?
Lunchtime sessions are run informally by leaders. The sessions will always be about Israel or Judaism. You will learn about the Jewish Festivals, the culture of Judaism, music from Israel, Israeli food and lifestyle, and much much more. If there's something you'd really like to learn more about, contact our Coordinator at jsn@ujeb.org.au and we'll do our best!

If JSN can't come to my school, how can I get involved?
JSN also runs social and educational activities outside of school times, and an annual camp, so that students can meet other students from other schools and have a lot of fun! Email us, your contact details and we will add you to our database, so that you find out about all the events we have on offer. You can also call or email, if you have any questions about upcoming events.

When is JSN camp this year?
Camp will be held from the 15-17 May, so make sure you're free that weekend because we're going to have a lot of fun!
