Education programs
Jewish & Hebrew Learning Centres
Enrol Now- These classes introduce children to the Hebrew language, customs, traditions, chagim and Israeli issues in a fun and stimulating environment.
- UJEB provides mid-week after school classes for students at five locations around Melbourne.
- Classes are attended by over 200 students and are approximately 1.5 hours in length, once or twice a week.
- UJEB also runs a Sunday morning Hebrew Centre at the North Eastern Jewish Centre, which is a three hour program.
Barmitzvah Academy
Enrol Now- Boys learn all about their responsibilities and enjoyment of becoming an adult Jew.
- All preparations for the Barmitzvah are covered including Parsha (reading from the Torah) and Hebrew reading when necessary.
Batmitzvah Classes
Enrol Now- Classes are held weekly and cover every aspect of Jewish life and becoming a Jewish woman.
- The girls take part in many relevant activities including visiting the Holocaust and Jewish museums, the Mikvah (Jewish ritual bath) Jewish and kosher shops and attending Yom Ha'atzmaut celebrations as well as presentations from other key Jewish organisation in the Melbourne community.
- On completion of the course, group ceremonies are held at various venues.
Religious Education in State Primary Schools
Enrol Now- This is a free, 30 minute class that occurs during normal school time and teaches Jewish traditions and customs, life cycle events, biblical stories, Chagim and Shabbat.
- UJEB provides Religious Education classes to over 1,000 primary students.
- Religious Education is taught in 35 State Primary schools every week.
UJEB Camps
- The annual UJEB camp is attended by UJEB students in years 3-6.
- Students enjoy an exciting weekend in which they have the
opportunity to:
- Take part in a full Shabbat experience
- make new friends
- learn about their culture, religion and Israel

Hans & Rosi Ruskin Essay Competition
Students in years 4-6 are able to submit entries in the annual Hans and Rosi Ruskin Essay Competition on a range of Jewish topics. It is the only annual communal education event which involves Jewish children from all schools in Melbourne. The presentation evening is held in November.
