About Us

United Jewish Education Board (UJEB)

The United Jewish Education Board was established in 1895 to provide Jewish education to the community's children.

Education, Identity and Continuity are UJEB's aims.

  • UJEB is the sole provider of formal and informal Jewish education in Melbourne's state primary and secondary school system
  • UJEB teaches over 1,000 primary students each week
  • The number of students UJEB teaches has grown by 30% over the past 6 years
  • UJEB students participate in many stimulating Jewish experiences including learning Hebrew, celebrating the Jewish festivals, Jewish identity and much more

UJEB activities fall under several broad areas of endeavour:

  • Religious Education in State Primary Schools
  • Hebrew language and Jewish studies classes (After school or on Sundays)
  • Barmitzvah Academy
  • Batmitzvah Classes
  • Jewish Student Network (JSN) informal Jewish education for secondary students
  • UJEB camps
