UJEB is the communal provider of Jewish Education to all students in state and private non-Jewish day schools across Victoria. We aim to inspire a positive Jewish identity in the future of our community.
Founded in 1895, UJEB is the sole provider of Jewish Education before school and a lunch times in Victorian State schools. Over 500 students from 15 different State primary schools attend our programs each week. From Mentone to McKinnon, Camberwell to Carnegie, Gardenvale to Glen Iris, UJEB is the only organisation that teaches Jewish students at State Primary Schools.
UJEB runs Jewish learning and Hebrew language centres for primary school students in the Caulfield and Bentleigh areas. Each Centre provides a full Hebrew language and Jewish studies program that covers traditions, customs and festivals. These centres form the Jewish education back-bone for many of our students. By attending our programs our students develop a lifetime of knowledge and skills which ensure their ability to participate in Jewish communal life.
Our secondary school program, the Jewish Student Network (JSN) is the only secondary program in Victoria set up exclusively for Jewish students attending non-Jewish Day Schools. JSN runs lunch time sessions at a range of public and private high schools, camps and weekend functions. JED was launched in term 2 for high school students. It has been a huge success and will be continuing next year at the Glen Eira College language center.
UJEB receives no government funding and as such we rely entirely on the support from generous individuals and organisations to continue providing our range of formal and informal educational programs.
